We have recently received comments regarding our abstention from voting on any referendums posted to the
eosio.forum contract as well as some highly visible
msig proposals. In this article, we would like to clarify our position. We believe our role is to gather the opinion of the community, and then enact it.
As a team who leads through technology, we took this need and turned it into a reality. We created the
eosio.forum referendum system and released it in order to offer EOS mainnet participants (or any other EOSIO blockchain that wanted to utilize this contract) a place to voice their opinion on-chain, in an easily auditable manner. Our goal in doing this, as always, has been to keep governance in the hands of EOS token holders.
As we promised in our code of conduct posted on July 3rd, 2018, “we fully commit to enforce the mainnet constitution.” Currently, the referendum voting participation is not large enough to demonstrate to us that we should go against our initial promise.
We hope this clarifies our position and our desire to see token holders actively engaged in governance by voting on the referendums.
A blockchain does not exist without critical infrastructures like those that EOS Canada, and other teams, are building for the community. If you want us to continue to deliver the best technology to bring the best dapps to the EOS ecosystem, don’t forget to vote for
